I'm pretty sure MD's "new" ToS is as it always has been. Like, people aren't "supposed to" upload things they don't have the copyright to, scanlation or not. That extra checkbox that I see people freaking out about is probably just MD covering their ass, nothing else.

It's kinda like file lockers online being massive piracy hubs, despite having the same stipulation. The site says they don't intentionally store copyrighted material, the uploaders say they aren't, but everyone knows what's going on.

Honestly, I'm surprised nobody's commented on Nephteros' chant. It's such a good chant, I love it to bits, I'm not sure if it's word for word an exact translation from Japanese, but it's hella impressive regardless. Phobos, the embodiment of fear, being the son of Ares, the War God. All the lines make such sense, it's great.

Scanlation has always been in a grey if not illegal area.
The change takes some legal pressure off of Mangadex but they will still get and handle the DMCA claims as they always had.

If legit DMCA claims are honored, no one will get sued. It's always been like that.
