Nephie is perfectly whole as it is. Nephteros doesn't display qualities of not being able to be whole, either. She was just living as a madman's underling, without knowing her past, so it made her somewhat broken, but all in all she's quite stable. From what I can see, nothing will prevent her from becoming a fully functional, independent person. It would really help her case to leave Bifrons, but on the other hand, she could keep an eye on the dude and report to Nephie/Zagan if Bifrons is up to something nasty (again).

I wonder if the manga changed it from the LN, in which Nephteros is a chimera that is only capable of surviving as long as a magician is feeding her magical power - thus her nature became obvious basically the moment she came to Zagan's castle.

Be patient and just enjoy the sugar intake. Usually, for typical MC like this, it'd take million years to finally be able even just to confess their feelings. But He not only confessed his feeling but also got approval from mother-in-law in just 50 chapters, it's considered fast. Not to mention they already have adopted daughter. So..

Perhaps Bifron caught a glimpse of Nephie when he was scouting the village and made her in Nephie's image. Considering that he introduced her as a doll, she's probably some kind of homunculus or golem. It's possible he performed some kind of ritual with the dead of the village to create her, imbuing her with the ability to cast celestial magic.

This is pretty damn well written. There's a nice balance between the warmer and more wholesome aspects and the darker, magical aspects. Narratively its a little bit predictable, but all around very solid.
