Such a peculiar series. It's like every single character and every reaction gives me this odd, vague sense of disappointment. Everything feels kind of oddly referential, derivative and archetypal, absolutely lacking in meaning and depth. I know that applies to a tremendous amount of manga, but for some reason this feeling is more pronounced in this story for me.
It's not really parody, because the portrayal is very mainstream and there's no clever kind of commentary or perspective. (God, Japanese media could desperately use more clever counter-culture. Some things have become so ridiculously ingrained, it's ridiculous.)
... Art's good though.
Queen is still somewhat amusing to me, for some reason. I mean it's basically guaranteed to be one of those types where she's always pining for him and nothing ever develops whatsoever but I do like her attitude (despite having seen it before).
