there is one giant issue for guns in an age without advanced chemistry
gun powder(specifically black powder here)
gun powder is relatively easy to make for us since we have access to the pure ingredients in a large abundance
but them?
they have to find large deposits of sulfur in ores and purify it which is pretty hard but nothing they cant do with trial and error...
but in any burning substance, there is a crucial ingredient, an oxidizer more specifically saltpeter or potassium nitrate
but... where do you find it?... piss and shit (people also used calcium nitrate but im not very sure on that topic)
usually you find saltpeter in bat and bird guano aka bird and bat shit
another way to get it is with a "niter pit/bed" basically a hole filled with shit piss and organic material left to do its thing for a couple of years

assuming they get all the materials... what about the formula? particle size? purity?
all these things can impact its performance from a powder that can throw a lead ball past the speed of sound to a powder that makes a big puff and throws a lead ball a few hundred meters per second
not to mention the big issue of reliability, the structural integrity, and cost of the guns

@themanj - black powder is made of relatively simple things. Sulfur is a byproduct of mining other minerals. Charcoal is well-known to medieval people, even though mass production will lead to deforestation.
Saltpeter is the hard part - apparently, it's obtained from dung heaps, which were plentiful during the time people relied on horses for transport, but still, it's not something people were normally gathering. But if you need to mass-produce gunpowder, you need to mine saltpeter out of the ground.

salt peter and sulfur are the hard parts ...
ok sure you can get sulfur easy but its probably not gonna be very pure. different traces of what ever in the sufur can slow the burn time or make it explode not to mention different sources would have different contaminants so its would be hell to purify even if you knew how
saltpeter... or nitrates are also hard... well yeah you can find it all over the place but there isn't much and to farm/grow your own takes years though luckily its water-soluble so purifying it will be a bit easier however you gotta get enough of it first

Probably a little Fantastic Racism - the first muskets were reported out of the Middle East (China had invented gunpowder and fireworks, hand cannons and regular cannons, but not rifles) with a gap as to where they originated from, and the Blue Demons are very clearly an Arab expy

Man, the author's mantra is like: when you run out of ideas, just add a bunch of modern technology into the story and spend 5 pages explaining each. Muskets are one thing, but muskets with rifling are on a completely different level. I don't know what level Muskets that shoot magic with black power are on.

Anyways, East Fort General... I mean Gate City Clan Leader sure is an awesome guy who should get a smart, beautiful, and loyal waifu preferably of demon genre. I hope it happens soon too. He's getting old.
