Honestly, the best course of action atm and what the mangaka should do is retcon the previous chapter. It's so over-the-top ass and simple-minded that it honestly ruins the story to the point 99% of us readers are like in despair out of the huge disappointment. Yusuke Murata, creator of OPM, has done it a couple of times so it's fine if this dude does it.
Seriously, I was expecting the family to be more machevialian-ruthless and high-expectations in general. I was expecting the Dad to be somewhat ignorant of his son's capabilities and depravity; but still expecting like a ruthless confident law-abiding "Winning Only Matters" father (like maybe classically down the line said father gets killed because of how he couldn't fully see his son's Dark-Triad capabilities). I was expecting Okaya's mom to have a more complex borderline emotionally/psychological incestuous relationship - like she's unhealthily obessed with him via being a seriously spoiling mother so she helps him commit psychopathic crimes through her connections and powers.
Honestly, this blunt simple-minded easily extremely-violent to pathetic subservient parents was super @#$%ing lame. Don't even get me started with the cowardly cultish-obessive teen Maria's been attached to.
