Pretty clear this was how it was going to go given the anime constantly surrounded Kinosaki with clockwork and gears and hearts. Obviously Kinosaki wouldn't be the sole exception to the puppet user being behind everything, but that whole concept really does cheapen these already shallow relationships. Gero is a murderer and torturer for hire. These girls haven't even met his sister, so what good qualities does he have?

His sister and her wife barely exist so we probably won't even get an interesting development like them being puppets. We'll probably get something boring like Gero being a puppet.

No. I think you are missing something. It was a plot before the start, but not from here. I think Kinosaki helped him become lovers with the current Poison Clan Leader. And it was after all of this, when Gero wasn't in any romantic relationship, where the Doll user decided to ask for Kinosaki's help with Gero. And it ended up like this. This does make some sense when you think of Kinosaki helping the Best Clan Leader take Gero away into the prison and almost forcing Gero's hand to marry her, because Kinosaki felt guilty of pushing him to a plan that was leading to an obvious conclusion decided by someone else instead of Gero, himself.

Or maybe he is a fucking demigod. Geez. That could actually be the plot.
