I think it's cause Himari is still a minor, I'm not clued in on Japanese law.
Japanese women can get married at 16 (and thus legally have sex) but, in this case, this is a government sanctioned marriage, so everything goes regarless of how old she is. Anyhow, the MC is an impotent loser wimp who is okay getting walked all over by females (figuratively speaking, but probably literally, as well), that's why he went wimp, wimp, wimp all the way to his brother's bed.

Bro. You're gonna give your wife a serious complex doing that. No way she wouldn't take it personally and get lost in her head with thoughts like "He can't even sleep in the same room as me? He must really hate me."

As for the "I'm cherishing her by not laying a finger on her" mentality, I promise you women don't look at it that way. To a woman, her man not trying anything means he must not find her attractive or he doesn't love her. After all, they think men are hornballs what want to screw anything that moves, so why doesn't he want her? Not showing her physical affection doesn't tell her you care; it tells her the opposite.

To also do that at your parent's house when she's worried about your family's acceptance, and you left her to sleep alone. How's that gonna look? Now she's going to worry about what your Mom thinks about you not being able to sleep beside your wife, and I promise you the shounen nerves isn't going to be a reason that occurs to her. Leaving the room is basically telling your family "This is my wife. We have a rocky marriage." Not exactly the impression she wants to leave.

Oh well, dramatic tension, right?

@Kwijo Remind me, please, when have these two ever slept in the same room before? When have they ever kissed? When has she ever said that she was in love with him? When has she ever asked him to sleep in the same room with her? Why should they put on an fake front just because they are at his parent's house? The don't have a "rocky marriage," they have a "forced marriage."

Judging from my point of view, it looks like Himari is at least 19 or 20 , so at most a 8 or 9 year gap between them. So Im pretty sure shes an adult

However Im guessing Shin is being overly sensitive to a person who has locked herself out from the social world for a while, and doesnt want to push a married relationship too soon

Though @Kwijo is right, in that this sort of treatment could backfire on him and make it worse

Holy crap, the comments on this chapter are dumb.
She clearly stated that she wasn't interested in him, and the ex told him that she probably considers him like a big brother now. They clearly entered this marriage with that in mind, and he told his family about it as well.
Under those circonstances, at least from his point of view, trying to do anything sexually to her would be like forcing her against her will. She hasn't stated that her feelings have changed yet, and she didn't really change her demeanour when in front of him. In that situation, with the feelings he has, the desires he has for her and her usual naivete, sleeping besides her would be torture for him.

Also, she's of marriageable age. It says, at the beginning of the manga, that she went to "Middle School", which should probably be "Junior High School" in Japan. So she was at least 15yo, and that was when an grandfather was still alive. We don't know exactly how long ago that was, but since it was stated that the granddad died a year prior to the events of the manga, she was at least 16yo before marriage.
Here's the page from chapter 1:

I would think she was probably older than that before getting married, maybe 18, probably more.

This is an awesome manga, cute, touching, with nice art and interesting characters. I've checked the raw for the next volume (volume 3) and it doesn't seem like there's much in terms of drama (there's a false cliffhanger, but nothing bad).
There are 5 volumes available, so pretty much 50 chapters, and I can't wait to see what's next. I just hope this gets a bit more views, and doesn't get dropped again 😀

@FredFriendly dude you're starting to sound like kronix
What an insult! When have I ever used the word "beta" or ever said anything like "just fuck already" in any of my comments? More importantly, what have I said in my posts for this chapter that aren't true? If you don't like my comments, you can do what I have done with kronix's id months ago: block me.

Ok, I wasn't going to say anything, but there is so much stupidity here I have to.

At this point if he did anything it would be RAPE. They married because he had to for him to keep his job and the agreement was that it would be a platonic friendship.

We the readers know that there is mutual love, but they do not so he's doing the right thing here.

And for those saying it's just sleeping in the same room, he was fine with that, it was the whole "too cute to not touch her" thing that made him decide to sleep elsewhere

Anyways.....is good to see that the cultural shock is strong as always in the comment section of a jap romcom. I guess anglo-speakers simply aren't capable to compute the lack of proactivity of the japanese when they talk about relationships. After all, is a culture with strict personal space restrictions, strict gender roles, etc. Maybe is time for western style stories on manga, for the western public. Obiously some of you can't endure japanese stereotypes anymore.
