Why the heck didn't he let those soldiers out of the bead, as soon as he noticed it works? Is it an experiment to see if some or all of them die in a certain amount of time? Pretty callous to use his own soldiers for such a test. Normally you'd first use beasts of various strengths, before moving on to captured evildoers. But then again, this is xianxia. The main characters of xianxias aren't typically that much better than the villains.
