If the ink clan sent such a massive army, their own territory should only have few troops left. If the army isn't all low level grunts doomed to be slaughtered, many of the territory lords should be there as well. If Yang Kai could have figured out which territory lord nests don't have their lord present, he could have caused extreme damage by destroying those nests while the ink army is busy attacking the human fortress.
