@random_anon because she tried to break into his mind and steal his knowledge before under the pretense of releasing the seal on him so he is distrustful of her then she demanded a gift back so she hasnt really put a good foot forward in any interaction so far

Yet another master that blindly enforces "justice" for their bastard disciple. When they are attacking the MC, "fists have no eyes", but when the MC fights back it is always "Junior, you dare?!?". SMDH these people clearly have no clue what kind of situation they are in, continuing on as though all is fine despite the fact that this mysterious senior has clearly been stranded here for a long time despite his overwhelming strength.

@Syanalassa - All of that is irrelevant, as none of it explains why he'd actually want her and the two other girls to think he'd killed their fellow disciple. Hell, considering the two girls had previously been really friendly with him, it would have been logical to just say outright that the other guy attacked him first, and he only barely managed to survive the murder attempt.

So, again, I ask why doesn't the MC just explain clearly what happened, instead of acting like a childish asshole?

@random_anon there is a saying a man looking to beat a dog will find a stick
basically he is goading her because she doesnt want to hear what he has to say and has made up her mind the girls havent so by showing that the master isnt really investigating and just looking for someone to blame the girls will be more inclined to think for themselves since they already suspect that not is all as it seems and will probably seek him out to confirm / ask why he is antagonising their master then he can explain
especially since it probably wasnt just dead dude that betrayed the girls and if the master is in on it too she'd just bury the claim as a lies of the guilty
