One of the standard approaches is to get the foreign royalty under thumb, and then use them as a casus belli (a cause for war) and then invade to take it outright or as a puppet.

The example, the government of China was overthrown and fled to Taiwan as a government in exile. The support that that government in exile has gotten, gives the US, Japan, South Korea and others a "just cause" to invade China to return an ally back to power that was "wrongfully seized." There are a few governments in exile currently. No idea what happened to the one in Spain. I think Morocco is having a civil war right now thanks to warlords and their Russian mercenaries against the government that had French Peacekeepers a few years ago.

Or you take the only royal in and use him to spearhead a righteous cause to take Hyme back from the enemies hands while also winning the favor of the people of Hyme, and creating a future where the two countries work together. Dumbass
