Yeah, that is the Dullahan and Elder Lich in the background. Just FYI that cover is from LN volume 9, where they did have a more active role in the story.
Current events of the manga are covering volume 4 of the novel (well actually more like the end of the volume), so it is a long way to go until volume the events of volume 9

Chris is both his and his mother’s bodyguard, it was mentioned that Chris & Claune would be going with Olivia for one of her official visits somewhere else.

The explanation was a bit skipped in the manga, but yeah neither Chris more Krone went with him.

If you want to know why, a small explanation.
Even though both Krone and Chris are assigned to Ain, that is not entirely correct. Chris is assigned to both Olivia and Ain, depending on the schedule and workload Chris switches between Ain and Olivia and Krone is the same.

When it came to that inspection the King actually assigned it basically on a whim, which kind of messed up with the previously planned schedule (cause Ain original had a day off on that day). Hence why Chris and Krone didn't go
