Damn that's heavy chapter. at first I thought "how come this random dude supposedly knows all these details about Akane and this other dude's relationship when he wasn't there?" But if he went through something like that I guess it sort of makes sense he might have told his best friend all about it, but then it's a big coincidence that Ao would happen to find his best friend by chance.

It seems like the baby's father might have been Akane's step-dad.
The question is, why did Akane decide to kill the baby after birth rather than having an abortion earlier? Did she initially want to keep the baby but then find out something that changed her mind? If she didn't get an abortion simply because she didn't want her mother to find out, that seems very unreasonable and irrational. I mean when your mother already knows that you've been raped by your step-father , it doesn't seem like it would make sense to hide the fact that you've gotten pregnant and need an abortion? I mean your mum already knows that you've been raped, because of a man that she brouoght into the house.
Maybe she initially thought that the baby was her boyfriend's but later realised the baby belonged to her step-father but only found out after it was too late to get an abortion? I don't see how she'd find out like that though, unless she found out her boyfriend is infertile or had his tubes tied, which seems very unlikely.

so maybe just teenage hesitancy and ignoring the problem and waiting too late to get an abortion because of wanting to avoid reality? But that would be a bit out of character for a headstrong, mature girl like Akane.
hmmm I can't think of a good reason why she'd wait until delivery then kill the baby rather than have an abortion.
At the moment the most likely explanation is that she didn't want her mom to find out about the abortion but that just doesn't make sense given that it's not like they're a very formal family with high standards given their history. Would Akane really risk possibly being prosecuted as a murderer if someone found out she killed her newborn baby just because she doesn't want her mum finding out she got pregnant?

But yeah this is a shame even babies where the father is a rapist don't deserve to be murdered. I am so disappointed that Akane is a baby murdererl
