yeah, this touches on the reason I dropped the WN. The original version had no difference between mc and his old self. He just followed along with the ideas his old self had and never considered that his misery might have been self-induced via his view of people as just a means of leveling faster and his obsession with a title that doesn't even suit him. It was a good choice to have the LN and manga versions have his younger self recognize the mistakes and challenge them rather than just be stuck in his ways even after going back.

For someone who reached lvl 99 and agewise looked like 50+ years old before reincarnation/timetravel, the MC surely acts like an immature teenager. I feel like he was a shut-in from young age onwards just focusing on magic and never really grew up...

It's a fine manga to pass some time, nothing more, nothing less.

It sure is nifty how going back in time with the memories of your 50+ year old self prevents your body from creating the rampant hormones that result from puberty.
"You see, I'm incapable of seeing any of you as women because my memories allow me to beat my body's natural processes into submission. I may physically look like a teenager but make no mistake: I am an abomination that controls my body's chemicals without even trying."

Though this genre of going back in time never really has that come up anyways. Exploring stuff like that isn't really the point of a wish fulfillment/power fantasy series - it just makes me laugh every time the "Old man inside" excuse joke comes up.

It's more plausible than you think. Adults are better at keeping (most of) their impulses in check. Considering that this was a guy who was married to his art, it's even more likely. If anything, it's simply more like, women below a certain age isn't his type. Teenagers are just too troublesome imo. If you look back in the first chapter, we see that he's actually a bit more conscious of the older women (his mom and his teacher).

Furthermore, if the translations of ch1 was correct at all, younger Zeff is at most 12 years old (grade schooler). Maybe the hormones just aren't there yet?

I'd also be super pissed just like the father.
Imagine some asshat of a boy sorrounded by girls telling you he wants your one and only daughter you took care of lovingly for all her life as another side trophy for his harem.
That said asshat also said a lie about no one else in the huge kingdom can he find any other to be a part of his Adventurer "Party" when in fact there are so many men and women out there he can just pick and get familiar with cementing the fact he just wants girls in his harem party for the lulz.
I'd go mental psycopath and rip his brainwashing lips off his mouth.
