@Meri08 didn’t see him get close enough to take any hair. Just looked like he was looking out the window turned to watch her sleeping face and walk out. I reread it but I can’t find this moment you speak of where he does something to her.

I guess I was reading too much into it. So when I read the part he opens the door, I interpreted it as him cutting something.
