Ugh. Author-san wanted to bring-in a new character, and basically resorted to a cheap telling (instead of a proper showing) to set-up that introduction.

Meanwhile, the business of the MC having repeatedly been knocked-out by the storm has not been given any justification. He seemed stupid because, well, Author-san wrote him to be stupid.

Dayum, wasn't expecting another ojisan to join the fight. And he's a drinker as well. I feel a disturbance in the force... And it's saying the tilt is strong with this one...

Ain’t that her ex-teammate? The person that left her with the kid?

1. The storm mechanic only exists in tournaments so he did not know about them before
2. The MC treats everything like it's realistic or has logic. So him entering the storm for a little bit or trying to hide in buildings are him treating it like an actual storm which he comments on when he dies from it as not really being a storm

That justified exactly one disaster.
The MC treats everything like it's realistic or has logic.
It has logic; it isn't realistic. Confusing the two is stupid. Ignoring the logic is stupid. When told by his teammates to quit, his continuing was illogical.
him entering the storm for a little bit or trying to hide in buildings are him treating it like an actual storm which he comments on when he dies from it as not really being a storm
Yet he continued, seeing repeatedly that it wasn't like a real-world storm.

The endgame of this: the team ends up being three handsome old men who are inexplicably good at video games.

edit comment:
I thought Hino is last name so Jin can be his first name or something.
turns out you're right, but it feels weird that his ex is formal with him, but the bartender isn't

Since each game day is days or a week apart it feels contrived that their strategy fails and they all continue to use it the whole tournament without doing any analysis or reflection at all during down time.

If it was consecutive days of playing I could understand. They don't have time to wind down a reflect. But it's been a month and they all turn off their brains and keep doing the same shit?? Old guy sure I can see that but no way sofia would stay quiet and do nothing

Ah, makes sense they kept getting K.O'd. Yamano may have really good survival instincts and great gunplay, but he lacks the proper understanding of a game. If his helpers are killed, he can't really do much because he has no experience with the environment.

Poor Jin, drunken in a bar alone. Why didn't he and Meg get together anyway?
