What the hell, dude. Normally you don't jump in front of a moving train if you don't want to die. The description says it was an accident, but that must be like a news headline: a person died in an accident, when in reality he clearly jumped on purpose. He had failed so many times, despite trying his best, that he gave up on life itself and killed himself. So, he accepted death was the only solution, and thus when he said he didn't want to die, it meant he didn't want his whole life to be so miserable he had no choice but to kill himself. There's a distinct difference there.

No, I don't think that's what happened.

It's the typical beginning of an Isekai, getting run over by a bus.
It's the stereotype. It's why we joke about truck-san.

It does make me wonder about obedience to traffic signals and traffic laws in Japan.
Or makes me want to review mortality statistics in regard to such accidents, and see if there really is a higher level of such deaths occurring with individuals noted for being oblivious to their surroundings.
Of course, being oblivious to one's surroundings is such a good indicator of an ability to be the Hero... NOT!

I was gonna drop this because of the MC's seriously annoying double standards and weak mentality, but when he came to understand his weakness and try to improve, it felt good to see. I was really close to dropping this.
