Yeah, this is major red flag behavior (and in contravention of the "rules" they set for themselves). If you have problems with your partner and your first response is violence, and your second is to just fucking bail, you're not ready to be in a romantic relationship. The longer this goes on, the less likeable this MC becomes. Selfish, violent, lazy, spiteful... why exactly should we be rooting for these two to stay together?

I mean... sadly a dude getting hit became part of the comedy aspect of many stories.

I am not for it, but it is still there.

I'm happy Boku no Kokoro no Yabai Yatsu is there, and tropes like this ain't happening.
