Cowabunga.
Bitchin’.
Tight.
Phat.
What other slang is from my youth that people look back on with a feeling similar to how youths today will look back on this currently-ubiquitous exclamation?
Sick.
Nasty.
Ballin'.
Yeehaw (ironically)
Dope.

Those are what I remember from high school, anyway. I think some of them are still in use, like "bitchin'" is definitely popular, as well as "sick" and maybe "tight." In many ways, culture doesn't change as much over time as people like to think it does.

“Bitchin” VANISHED from my entire state in 1997.
”sick” is back, and that makes me uncomfortable.
”Dope” never stopped being used in black communities, if I am not uninformed.
”Ballin’” as an adjective is dead, as far as I know.
”lit” coming back made me friggin… angry.

"Bitchin'" actually came back in the 2010s, if I remember correctly, or maybe I was just profoundly uncool at the time.
I kinda like that "sick" is back. I never stopped using it and I feel somehow validated now.
I think "ballin'" is used the same way "k" is, but again, I could also just be extremely uncool.

I was in a depression hole from 2010 through 2016, and playing Borderlands 2, Elder Scrolls and DnD. No idea what anyone was talking like.
I was always depressed before that, I just wasn’t in as much of a hole for 10-15 years.

I heard “mint“ again this year and was blown away. That didn’t make the cut for slang in the 90s. Some people tried to push it out there, but it didn’t stick.
I don’t know when “rinse and repeat“ became a common idiom, but it was not in my area back in the day. That’s why I used it, to be goofy.
Now I hear people say “rinsed” and it blows my mind. I don’t think I started it, not at all. It’s on the back of every hair product. It’s just funny that something I once said in order to be weird is now just… a thing you say.

Slang is always stupid, and we all use it. Language is weird.

Mincheol and Jia finally graduating from their virginity? I don't want that, I want them to stay sexless and keep getting cockblocked for the next 10 years atleast!

I'm sorry to hear about that; I certainly hope you're in a better place now.

"Mint" and "rinsed" are completely new to me, but as you've said, language is weird. After I started hearing "on fleek" I started to wonder if kids just get a kick out of confusing the adults in their lives. Then when I heard "bussin'" I knew it was true.

“Groovy” is pretty wild.
”Bananas” ain’t too shabby.
none of anything comes close to “23 skidoo”. Look up the Wikipedia article on that. I have been thinking about that for over a decade…
