I kind of dig it.

Parts of this reminded me of Chihaya Re:Start; parts of it reminded me of RuriDragon. If this is "RuriDragon except things actually happen," I could see myself enjoying it immensely.

I think this is a situation where Chapter 1 provides the hook while future chapters continue to invest me into the story, so I am not worried about the pacing. The mangaka showed a little bit of everything their series has to offer: character writing, slice-of-life, and cool action.
