Well, this was done by Go Nagai himself and has been published in Japan too. Was produced in Japan too. This is the best Mazinger imo. Total epicness.

I'd ask for better scans, but honestly, I'm just glad to see this is preserved in some form.

This is a really nice one-shot, if not exactly "real" Mazinger.

It's about on par with what I'd expect when trying to bring Mazinger over to the US. The story is meh and the art is pretty good, but ultimately generic. If you told me that some random US artist drew this art, I'd believe you- It just doesn't impress me.
Best thing in here is the article at the end from Frederick Patten. Very interesting to see a US fan's thoughts at the time regarding Nagai's works, especially before The Birth's OVA. Some real old stuff.
