@lionfromnorth Don't forget the every glorious creation that is mayonnaise.

@VladDracul2 That is true, though. I am glad that he isn't pulling out white rice out of his ass for the locals to gush over.

@HDMI1 mint leaves taste sweet and has a cooling effect when ingesting it. I think it's probably a bitter gourd leaf since they say it's bitter, idk

@SlingToken because Onions are one of the single most common and vital ingredients humans have ever managed to cultivate. No matter where they end up, onions follow.

They keep well, come in multiple varieties (alongside other alliums like Leeks, Chives, Shallots and Garlic) and have a shit ton of health benefits not to mention being a very easy plant to grow a lot of.

@Say That's almost worse, but I can believe that's what it says. It reminded me of this article by Gene Weingarten. -

"A few years ago, at a Japanese restaurant, I asked the sushi chef why I’d never seen a woman doing that job. He nodded solemnly and explained that, regrettably, it is impossible. Women cannot be sushi chefs because they have higher body temperatures than men, so when handling raw fish, women cook it a little. He was completely serious.
. . .
Now I know what you are thinking. You are still stuck on the first paragraph, wondering whether women really are warmer than men. It bothered me, too, so I did a little research.

It turns out that women’s core body temperature, on the average, actually is a fraction of a degree higher than men’s. But, interestingly, on the average, due to gender-related differences in peripheral circulation, women’s hands are a fraction of a degree colder than men’s.

I think I am going to go back to that sushi restaurant and ask my fish guy why, in light of this new data, men are permitted to be sushi chefs. "

@Kanol I really can't say anything here, isekai dog furries have their own beliefs and cultures I guess.

@Say Sure, I just find the concept of something's own body heat cooking it after it dies mildly hilarious. Like, maybe that's how it is? Maybe once it's dead the exothermic putrefaction of it's guts by iseki fantasy germs ramps up, causing the corpse to spontaneously combust into delectable orc burgers. It's a good thing, really.

Well, this manga stretches suspension of disbelief quite a lot. Even points like big communities of Savanna Elves and Mountain Dogs only having one dish and no ways of preserving the food is very stretch. No matter how you look at it they just would develop some ways for it or even things like them being surprised when he grilled meat over the fire, when it would be just the basic thing to do when they travel (which takes days) and make campfire (not like they could carry that soup thing everywhere). So pretty much it's all a plot device for MC.

As whole self cooking Orc meat you can look at it in bit different way. I mean it can be something similar our world religions and things like Muslims not eating pork (one thing it origins from is the fact that back then keeping pigs as live stock was too hard in that region) or Christian fasting where Church wanted to balanced diet and prevent some of illnesses.
So you may look at it as theirs reasoning for saving whole animal as otherwise some part wouldn't be fresh/ good to use after some time and community like this just need every possible part of it to survive.

Drag that idiot back home. He can leave them instructions and doesn't need to be there whole time. Traveling in snow is not gonna be fun. It can turn 7 days of travel into 14.

@Mathew_01 ; Yeah, but bacteria will start to spoil the meat, which they might have falsely interpreted that as.
The even more unbelieving part is them having salt and not knowing how to preserve meat with it.
