MDlist "last update" column

How are these "updates" calculated? I would think it shows when the latest chapter was uploaded, but more often than not series seem to have "updated" without any new chapters. I imagine it includes things like updating the latest volume cover or aliases or descriptions?
Also, since the front page has a section for latest uploaded chapters by follows only, why is it different on the follows list?

Makes sense, thanks. I hadn't realised since I've filtered them long ago.
Can I change a setting somewhere to only update on uploads in languages under the filter list, similar to the front page?

@fgsfdss It used to do that before but it crashed the servers.
