I like that the artist drew the girl’s hat with pig ears, to make the reader worry whether she was going to be slaughtered. I still wonder what kind of mystery meat she was given to eat...

The final panel may be suggesting that it was indeed human meat. Accounts of people who tasted it describe it in different ways, making it difficult to liken it to a specific sort of meat.

@FallenAngel Aint that the point? isnt it why after showing other stores that sell other animals meat had the animal on the shop advertising board, while his shop had a little girl? anyway this shit is fucked up

I don't think its cannibalism. Didn't the panel show a pig hanging (after her mother asked what did he sell)?
More like she was scared with all the slaughter and blood in a meat market but the guy had just opened his shop and she didn't spot any such thing. She also tasted some fried stuff and her mood lightened.
As for the little girl poster on his wall, its probably a more "friendly sign"

@vik1ng_w0w After reading it again, it is most definitely cannibalism. There are so many signs on that meat market, all with a different animal on it. Then the special focus on that girl sign at the end with the following page of "we are all just meat" combined with the seedy image of a back street and "you can get everything".

Also, in a chapter of "Akita Land Gothic" (Vol.2 Ch.24, same mangaka) published some years after this one, the theme of butcher signs and the cannibalism on them are again connected.

I don't know how I got here but by reading the comments and reading the manga I can already tell what's going on

could be cannibalism, but there is also a chance it was just the pig, also, the author note that we continuously eat every other meat than ours suggests it MAY not be human flesh, but the last sentence of never getting to taste it again suggests otherwise, maybe an open ending?
