I mean, trans men are an outlier I guess, but like I get it that line could've been a translation thing, or just not thought through, it happens, and it's not like I think the author would have ill intent considering everything else going on.

Also I think a lot of people that like men 'desire' them quite a bit tbh, at least among gay communities which I'm more immersed in, maybe cishet girls are more begrudging about it, who knows.
But yeah, considering they were just previously grappling with the idea of actually loving someone at all, that's fair.

It's interesting stuff one way or another.
