Fly Agaric ain't that poisonous. Up into the 1950:s it was considered edible (if you peeled off the red skin and also boiled it a couple times, discarding the water every time). Even now it's mostly hallucigenic and some poisoned people were just in it for the drugging effect.
(And some get poisoned for mistaking it for something similar-looking but edible, like Amanita Cesarea, and eating a lot.)
