Gonna be honest, sick of this premise too. Wouldn't be so bad if it was only a few, and the other kinds of genres kept on continuing and evolving, but there's just too many of these stories nowadays. It's like everyone's doing self-insert fanfiction, except instead of self-insert it's "market research tested character" insert. Kind of like only having a bunch of burger fast food restaurants surrounding you and having no real other choices. Sheer lack of variety.
There are some good alternate world anime and manga out there, but the formulaic drivel that drowns it out is getting tiring. Not necessarily a bad genre or subgenre, just really overdone and overused.
It was better in the past when it was one of the things you could see, not everything you saw. Isekai is this generation's version of everyone pulling a Luffy / Naruto and wanting to be King / Hokage of something and going off on a grand journey with a bunch of misfits for hundreds of volumes to do it, but never quite achieving it until the manga loses popularity. Although to be fair, Naruto did at least reach his goal, only to find out it wasn't all that great, and not quite what he expected to be....
