HE WANTS RELIABLE COMRADES! Thats why he picked up some talented newbies; so he can fucking train them into what he needs to save as many lives as he can in this playthrough.
He went back in time specifically because he felt unsatisfied he had completed it with so many fucking deaths.

I know the plot of him trying to get more people but he is not doing it the right way.
The "comrades" you are talking about are always in the dark so how would they be true comrades/friends?

You will ave to make a stronger case for him not training them as comrades besides "he is being mean"

You may want to re-read chapter 1. Clearly there will be "big events" (like the civil war caused by the big guild the other girl joined) he will try to influence to avoid as many casualties compared to his previous life. He simply doesn't have the power/authority to do so yet, so maybe he will let some of those big events come to pass to keep amassing power.
Just because he doesn't go saving people left and right doesn't mean he isn't thinking of "the greater good"
And no, thinking of the greater good doesn't mean he has a messiah bitch complex. If he did, he would do as you apparently expect him to do and act like a dumb goody two shoes.
Yes, he wants to save his friends. The greater good like preventing big wipe outs is a part of it, because his comrades would grow into being powerful/influential people.
Preventing disasters will prevent his friends' deaths.

So you rely on things like "word of god" then? Do you also need someone wipe your a$$ too?
You can interpret and make conclusions based on the info the work gives you.
You did that, and concluded "he doesn't train them as comrades" in which case you are wrong.

A lot of people are saying he is too hard with them but tbh I don't get why he took these people with him to begin with. The younger girl has a rare class I think but that's it. Couldn't he became friend with more experienced people from the beginning if he was looking for people to team up with? Even the red hair seemed more useful and not inherently bad guys. I mean he spend his last 10 years in that place so obviously he won't see things like these people who just arrived.
