well i assume he would go to the doctor again tho idk if he had too much of a blood sample/test again, but given that he's the typical office worker, tho i don't remember his coworkers complaining as much, i can imagine they'd probably need somethingto make up for the fact that everyone takes the train and not exercising, even if japan seems to be more walkable?/ppl walk otherwise rather than drive a car (which also is convenient/would make some ppl outta shape but i assume driving/concentrating on the road might burn a few more calories than the train)Obviously the point of the manga is that he's just like this. But y' ever wonder if he's got low iron?
I hear pregnant women “crave” stuff bc of specific nutrients but idk if it’s the same for regular ppl, bc even if there are some “healthy” aspects in a meat dish I don’t think craving like a deep fried snickers bar or Other “junk food” would be that nutritious lol
Food craving is actually something that's still not well understood by science, but the nutrition-based theory common when talking about things like iron deficiency, menstruation, or pregnancy is not supported by studies on the subject thus far. It is true that significant iron deficiency in particular has been observed to induce craving, but it's typically in the form of pica, which is a craving for unusual substances with little nutritional value like ice or paper, rather than iron-rich foods.Obviously the point of the manga is that he's just like this. Yeah plus if you aren’t educated even known” “veggies are healthy”’as a general thing idk if ur body would know to signal it, like “vitamin c, oj time”, tho idk if I’d go without vitamin c long enough for me to feel the effectsFood craving is actually something that's still not well understood by science, but the nutrition-based theory common when talking about things like iron deficiency, menstruation, or pregnancy is not supported by studies on the subject thus far. It's opens up into a really interesting subject when you consider other avenues of influence. Potential benefits of chocolate in correlation to menstrual cravings were investigated in the US (iirc) for example, but international surveys showed that a craving for sweets on your period is not by any means a universal experience– the categories of flavor you might crave in certain contexts are very culturally motivated, amongst any number of other social, psychological, and enviromental factors.
sou ka... it does make sense to me that cravings in specific circumstances are more cultural then universal. Like given the array of diff foods you eat when you're sick- aside from some pretty broad 'a lot of times its something with carbs and liquids' type stuff.Food craving is actually something that's still not well understood by science, but the nutrition-based theory common when talking about things like iron deficiency, menstruation, or pregnancy is not supported by studies on the subject thus far. Considering he takes notes at all the places he visits, other then him not being a “local” versus “in the area” for business meetings, I’m sure some ppl would recognize him and set aside big portions lolSuch a beloved customer that they reserved a whole rice cooker for the guy? This manga made me hungry and now im jealous.
I think you're absolutely on the right track– even in the case there's not necessarily nutritional correlation to eating something and feeling better, the mind is a powerful thing. If you think it will help you or it's something you associate with comfort (i.e. the American notion of having ice cream and a good cry when you're sad), and then you feel better, it's still worth a lot.sou ka... it does make sense to me that cravings in specific circumstances are more cultural then universal. It's one of those things that 'feels' right to me, but I try and be suspicious of that feeling. Maybe the effect of 'feeling better after satisfying a craving' is just enjoying food, and the body responding positively to 'food' in general then. It aint like that's not a good thing to be doin' in the first place, after all....
