i don't think i'd like liver but even as a salaryman i would expect meshinuma to change to not worry about eating in his suit tho i guess he's used to it. maybe even something like a bib or apron but i guess he wouldn't get drunk too often to be sloppy but i feel like other than some snack food/izakaya stuff, stuff like ramen would end up splashing since he's the type to get large servings XD (well I guess his blazer/jacket is off in the current volume chapter)

It's a shame he's not aware of how much ppl enjoy seeing him eat, maybe he'd make double as a mukbanger compared to his job now , it's a miracle he hasn't gained weight, other than that one doctor chapter where it mentioned his cholesterol

I wish I could get rebanira in restos near me, it's such a good stamina food but it's such a pain in the ass to make, especially when a girl wants it most lol.

Obviously the point of the manga is that he's just like this. But y' ever wonder if he's got low iron?
well i assume he would go to the doctor again tho idk if he had too much of a blood sample/test again, but given that he's the typical office worker, tho i don't remember his coworkers complaining as much, i can imagine they'd probably need somethingto make up for the fact that everyone takes the train and not exercising, even if japan seems to be more walkable?/ppl walk otherwise rather than drive a car (which also is convenient/would make some ppl outta shape but i assume driving/concentrating on the road might burn a few more calories than the train)

I hear pregnant women “crave” stuff bc of specific nutrients but idk if it’s the same for regular ppl, bc even if there are some “healthy” aspects in a meat dish I don’t think craving like a deep fried snickers bar or Other “junk food” would be that nutritious lol

Food craving is actually something that's still not well understood by science, but the nutrition-based theory common when talking about things like iron deficiency, menstruation, or pregnancy is not supported by studies on the subject thus far. It is true that significant iron deficiency in particular has been observed to induce craving, but it's typically in the form of pica, which is a craving for unusual substances with little nutritional value like ice or paper, rather than iron-rich foods.
It's opens up into a really interesting subject when you consider other avenues of influence. Potential benefits of chocolate in correlation to menstrual cravings were investigated in the US (iirc) for example, but international surveys showed that a craving for sweets on your period is not by any means a universal experience– the categories of flavor you might crave in certain contexts are very culturally motivated, amongst any number of other social, psychological, and enviromental factors.

Yeah plus if you aren’t educated even known” “veggies are healthy”’as a general thing idk if ur body would know to signal it, like “vitamin c, oj time”, tho idk if I’d go without vitamin c long enough for me to feel the effects
Of a deficiency before a craving but I wonder if multivitamins/gummies would help, tho I suppose a complete shift in diet would have some effects like trying to go vegan cold turkey (heh) versus slowly easing outta it if you get like a red meat allergy later in life

I know JP animanga tend to crave rice, esp in Isekai but think just plain white rice on its own wouldn’t be that filling (other than the emotional aspect lol) considering ppl say brown is healthier

I never rly understood the kids eating stuff like glue tho, even the stuff that smelled good wasn’t rly tempting but I was also a picky eater lol

And alcohol craving is a whole nother convo, I’m sure in JP culture with their bars and after work dinners there’s prolly a lot of salty snacks and such that’d make you thirsty /pair well with beer

sou ka... it does make sense to me that cravings in specific circumstances are more cultural then universal. Like given the array of diff foods you eat when you're sick- aside from some pretty broad 'a lot of times its something with carbs and liquids' type stuff.

It's one of those things that 'feels' right to me, but I try and be suspicious of that feeling. Maybe the effect of 'feeling better after satisfying a craving' is just enjoying food, and the body responding positively to 'food' in general then. It aint like that's not a good thing to be doin' in the first place, after all....

Considering he takes notes at all the places he visits, other then him not being a “local” versus “in the area” for business meetings, I’m sure some ppl would recognize him and set aside big portions lol

I expect his coworker to take him to another “challenge” place soon tho I imagine even if he can eat that amount he wouldn’t be as in a rush for the time limit

I think you're absolutely on the right track– even in the case there's not necessarily nutritional correlation to eating something and feeling better, the mind is a powerful thing. If you think it will help you or it's something you associate with comfort (i.e. the American notion of having ice cream and a good cry when you're sad), and then you feel better, it's still worth a lot.
