I think one thing that puts some people off Trans stories like this one is that the Mangaka draws the MC in a more realistic style rather than prettier than cis females that are more popular but way less realistic.

Sorry I wasn't clear in what I wrote, what I meant was IRL most trans-femmes and femboys really are quite ordinary or even unconvincing. While in most Manga's they are almost always stunningly attractive, for example Kei in https://mangadex.org/title/6df76f5e-3d2e-4add-a8e7-8a9a8320c711/welcome-back-alice could honestly be described as more attractive than FL. This is nothing more than fanservice and TBH is what is expected by most readers of this genre.

the organization keeps their testing a secret for "ethical reasons"

it feels like that means the testing might be too unethical to be made public. for example, some kind of cancerous risk that kills them before the fourth year, or that they are perfectionist and kill anyone who can be distinguished from cis people by the fourth year, or the whole thing is some kind of death game.

but that's just a theory, a catastrophizing theory.

I really hope it's just a cute trans rights dream manga.
