Does anyone know of a method to download Kindle manga from Amazon.jp as JPG or PDF files? I know of a method to use for BookWalker, but I'm unsure if the same method would work for the Amazon Kindle reader app ect. I'm attempting to rip RAWs to use for a new scanlation project and would rather be able to rip everything easily and in good quality rather than have to screenshot every page individually and then do editing/upscaling.

Okay, so this is my DUMB Explanation on how to RIP RAWS from Amazon. I can't guarantee reliability for this tutorial but somehow and I don't know how, it works for me. Hopefully it works for you too, so you won't feel like you wasted your time reading this DUMB Tutorial hahaha.

Amazon Japan
Use A VPN(Japan) when you "Add to your Library for Free" from Amazon to Kindle.
Kindle Download
Go to HERE, Download and run "kindle_noKFX.bat"
Go to HERE, Download and run "disable k4pc download.bat"
Calibre
DeDRM

PS: If this doesn't work just google "Kindle to Calibre".

Preferences -> Plugins -> Get new plugins -> KFX Input / Output

Try installing these two (KFX Input/Output), While you're there, check if you have "DeACSM" and "EpubSplit" Installed, If not then Install it.
(What Manga are you trying to RIP on this Run? Hope it's not paid)

UPDATE!

Sorry my bad, I've done this last year so that's why I think I mixed up the link???
Anyway,

*Uninstall your latest Kindle.

*Delete the directory C:\Users\(Your User Account)\Documents\My Kindle Content.
(Delete all of what you've downloaded)

*Install this Version of Kindle "Version 2.3.0.70673".
After Installation and User Sign in, Go to Options, Uncheck the Automatic Updates, Close Kindle.
Here's the LINK (My Dropbox) (Run some antivirus if you're a bit Paranoid)

*Go to HERE, Download and run "kindle_noKFX.bat".
(A prompt will open, then Kindle will automatically Run, wait for the prompt to complete, Close Kindle)

*Go to HERE, Download and run "disable k4pc download.bat".
(Same as the as before, A prompt will open, then Kindle will automatically Run, wait for the prompt to complete, Close Kindle)

*Run Kindle, Download a test Chapter/Series.

*Run Calibre, locate the the test Chapter/Series. If done right the series should be in AZW3 format instead of KFX.

Do the rest of what that DUMB Tutorial is saying. (You can convert the output into .ZIP instead of EPUB)

Cheers and I hope for your success!!!

Question,

Is there anyway to improve the quality? Any settings to adjust? I'm getting getting like 200-300kB files with a max resolution of 800x1200 (ish).
Is this the case for all downloaded series or just a specific title?
Yeah, I've noticed it with some titles, the quality/resolution isn't that great compared to what you can get elsewhere. (I guess that's why others don't use Kindle when extracting RAWS)
I think it's either Amazon's fault or the publishers for the shitty quality of the Kindle version
But I'm not entirely sure, so if anyone can enlighten me or knows how to deal with the shitty quality, I'd really like to know too...

All series, I tried with a couple of titles and they all had mediocre quality.
But thanks for getting back to me!

If the source is that bad, I'd probably try to use AI upscaler like waifu2x or something. I usually download with kobo and they usually have 1600 or 2200 or whatever it is, and I thought amazon usually had the same quality. But it depends a bit on the publisher. Kodansha is nearly almost always 1600.

I appreciate the input, question, what is "kobo"?

Rakuten/Kobo is a store. It has two store fronts, I'm not entirely sure what the difference is, but it's easier making an account on Kobo and using the kobo program for downloading raws. I managed to make an account through rakuten by mistake though so I don't think it's that hard.
I think that kobo and amazon has the same quality, but I've never used amazon so I'm not certain.

Does the method works for books published after 2024?
There are some rumor back then (around late 2023) that books published after 2024 may not work with noKFX as their DRM is yet to be bypaseed, or so I heard.

Huh, I'm not really sure...
The most recent series I tested this method on that works was Miss Regular Vol. 2, which was published in November of last year. I'll test it on some series that were just published in early 2025 and post updates if I find anything...

I've heard that shueisha titles don't work and have another drm, but I haven't tested it out myself.
People in the /a/ scanlation thread have had to use screenshot scripts for them.
For other publishers, titles I've recently bought a few new volumes and calibre/dedrm works at least for them.

Well, I guess I'm staying in BW then...
