The timing is kind of weird, as is the debt. But the chapter explains it. I suppose that soldier girl didn't actually have the authority to prevent the charges and just relied on her subordinates' respect for her. It only took one in the right place ignoring her order for the problems to arise.

@Anaddict
There's a light novel, my be that will be better since novels usually go slower and usually have much more depth and detail put into things. Of course, sometimes that's not the case.

Even the elf'd ID picture says she is tired of life.

Hiro would be wise to leave that space station, and in fact that whole empire, for good. Move to the neighbouring country. Obviously that empire is thoroughly corrupt, so it's only a matter of time before he gets into trouble. It's even worse because he has such a nice ship. If he, and his ship, gain even more fame, it's guaranteed some corrupt officers and nobles will set their eyes on the ship, and then there's nothing he can do anymore. He's just a single man with no connections, and his small crew are no better. Even if his ship was illegally seized, nobody would speak for him. Forget about trying to get back any of that 3 million, even if he heard it was a huge sum based on nothing. Trying to inquire about it would only make some nobles/high offials mark him a personal enemy and troublemaker.

Alas, he doesn't seem to be too smart, as expected of an isekai manga main character.

@Silwith

She is supposedly a 5-year veteran, why was she using a ship that can explode on you?
Seems like a beginner mistake considering the ship is a mercenary´s lifeblood.
Or was there any skullduggery going on?
In RPG terms: she had the strongest weapon of it's class in the game (in terms of DPS) but it has a random chance of inflicting confusion on it's user with every strike as a downside (end analogy). She most likely had no idea the ship's controls had a chance to become unresponsive and then freak out on her, resulting in the unintended ramming into a battleship.
