Setting aside the supernatural elements, this is turning into an incredibly toxic relationship. She keeps trying to submit herself to him, and he keeps being as callously cruel and devaluing of her as possible, which somehow just makes her even more desperate for his attention and false affection.
I get that it's supposed to be him learning for the first time to care for a human as a person, but unless that basic dynamic changes, and soon, this is really really bad.
