Ready to get back on board the pain train?

I mean, I do "like" this series still, for want of a better word - I'm not forcing myself to translate it - but Christ, that one was tough to get through. I think I need a shower now. <_<

(...slightly more seriously, as well as the old mistake I point out in the notes, Yamada's long monologue was a bit tricky - I think I got all of it okay but the last big thought balloon was partly me just crossing my fingers.)

I saw Two Girls, One Cup back when that was first causing global trauma, and even that wasn't as uncomfortable as this got from the end of the previous chapter.

This makes me hate the mom so much. Rather than mii-chans back story i need to see her mom's and dad/uncle's life and how they were raised cuz grandma seems "normal" and we all know why mii-chan is the way she is due to fucked up genetics.

Watch. There will be people whining about this. I guess having a manga that actually portrays a realistic tragic story is... LE BAD! Maybe those people who don't like the story because it's not some happy go lucky CGDCT moeslop should go back to plebbit.

With her parents having problems reading and the grandma describing them as difficult children to raise, it makes me think they could also have some sort of disorder.

Could be that, or could be some kind of neglect on the father's part, or maybe a bit of both... not sure how far 11 and 12 go into it, if at all. (I've glanced through them but not read them "properly" atm, and I haven't started work on 11 just yet.) FWIW I can't quote the exact characters right this second, but the Japanese seems to be the same sort of ambiguous phrase as saying "a difficult child" in English, i.e. if you Google it you get all kinds of stuff from websites suggesting serious psychological help to more general "Oh, don't worry, every child goes through a troublesome phase" reassurances. So you make a fair point, IMO, but it's hard to say.

It does make you wonder just how that ambiguous phrase is applied here. Or perhaps could the divorce have something to do with either the kids or something the father passed on to the kids.

Good God... Poor Mii-chan was domed since conception, a product of incest between two mentally-challenged siblings.

This is depressing train wreck that you can't turn away from.

Contrary to popular belief (and I'm not saying this to defend incest just that there are people alive who are a product of incest usually through abuse and calling them doomed feels cruel) rather than incest outright guaranteeing intellectual and physical disability it increases the likelihood of disability this likelihood goes up the more incestuous inbreeding there is it's called inbreeding depression you'd have to have like 4 or 5 back to back incestuous generations for the likelihood to be high enough to for it to almost be a guarantee though

For the record the reason incest is wrong is one because it usually involves the manipulation and abuse on the part of the older party so it's predation and in cases that don't involve easily identifiable abuse it's the perversion of the family bond something that is meant to be devoid of sexuality

That said it seems like Mii's parents both had an intellectual disability based on the mouth shape the mom's comments and their own comments about reading but a milder presentation than her and because of this they got labeled difficult rather than being seen as needing and having access to the appropriate support and teaching that they needed a lack of understanding of social taboo not being around people who are actually trained to explain these things to them coupled with spending probably a lot of time with the seemingly only person who could "understand them" as well as a mother who just by nature of being single and probably having to work wasn't able to constantly monitor them you get well this that plus the fact that intellectual disabilities have genetic basis well you get Mii who has a more severe presentation of probably the same intellectual disability that her parents have
