Heard of this from the drama
Another "Mature themes" but without mature handling, a childish, and worthless story
(I only finished volume 1 so far, no spoilers pls, if possible.)
I don't usually read this type of manga, but I thought it engaged me on a somewhat deep level. Despite the heavy subject, it feels a bit light-hearted: the characters are cute, we don't see many internal monologues, issues get resolved quickly. I wonder, is that what makes it immature?

Basically, could you elaborate your point please? Just for my understanding.

Where did the manga go?
Is this site broken?

God forbid a manga be inclusive to people with disabilities, instead of trying to pretend that they don't exist.

Hopefully the anime will stay true to the source material.

Totally understandable, yeah. I don't blame anyone for nope-ing out. I don't think it's outright misery-porn like some titles with the "tragedy" tag (which is one reason I wanted to try translating it), but I can totally see how some people would still find it too much.
This strikes me similar to the Joker film, the first one not the second one. People somehow conflate it as some sort of fetish porn, when both stories are looking at realistic portrayals of how societies handle or don't certain taboo topics like mental health. Like both stories add something to make people read the story, adding the Joker character, and here cutesy arts, because otherwise not sure how anyone makes it through it, ala Grave of the Fireflies. But I do feel like they are important topics to bring up, and with all mental stress that even the typical Japanese citizen is put under, you seriously don't think people that need help are getting it.

Like to me fetish porn is something like Hostel. That has literally nothing to say, lets pick some random Eastern European country to play on stereotypes, and just slather the screen with blood. But I think this work has some depth beyond the chibis. That said this is tough rough for me to read, I barely made it through episode 7 of Dandadadandan, so wouldn't make it through this work, but I don't begrudge it for existing.

I mean honestly not sure what the difference between this and Yani Neko is, I guess the cat girls make it easy enough for people to complete disregards looking deeper at the troubled people underneath the ears. The fact that Miichan to Yamadasan makes me feel that uncomfortable is literally the point.

It really feels like the Japanese have no concept of attention deficit disorder. Her friend shows obvious signs of it. I've literally never heard of "cant sit still" being a sign of low IQ
There's a kind of urban legend-like cultural stigma in Japan that people who fidget will grow up to be poor, so Japanese parents will try to force kids who are probably just ADHD or on the spectrum and trying to Stimm to sit perfectly still. Untreated, misunderstood autism abounds in Japan and even now ADHD kids are just seen as dim and some even get shunted into the special needs classes where they just learn crafting all day.

The crafting classes are actually pretty neat, but mainstreaming is more positive IMHO as it gives the kids more experience communicating and developing the masking behavior they'll need to survive in the future.

That prize standee represent an important moment in the story,
where Yamada started seeing the reality around her and started seeing Mii-chan for what she really is, a mentally disabled woman who she can no longer help.

After finishing it, I don't think this is so much as "misery porn" or the author "not knowing how to do drama" rather than it's probably trying to be easier for more of a younger audience.

To portray something this fucked up in this tone it's a choice, for sure. At times I just skimmed through pages depicting really bad shit and I had a hard time grasping the gravity of the situations until I reread it more slowly, specially at the beggining. At times I felt like how young people are able to hear certain sound frequencies and old people can't, I was like "wow, that REALLY happened". This is one of the most fucked up mangas I ever read in terms of depicting real problems and at times I didn't felt a grip reading it.

I think the problem is that is not for me, maybe it's I'm too old and not the target. I think it's a necessary story but the tone of most of it is too whimsy. And the author knows given how they did a realistic Mii-chan when Yamada realized what was really happening. On the other hand, has this kind of story have to be grit, overly dramatic with many tones of gray and black and aimed to a more mature audience necessarily?

I don't know, I don't really know if I liked it or not. I'm thinking a lot about it for sure. Maybe that's what its real aim is.

This is my thoughts after reading this until the end. Not actually a review btw. Obviously, spoiler alert.

This manga focuses on Mii-chan and Yamada. The title might make the story seemed to be more about the former rather than the latter, but I believe it was the other way around. Yamada was someone who never had any motivation of her own and always led around by her mom. Meanwhile, Mii-chan was someone who just did anything she liked. They couldn't be anymore different, but for Yamada who was already a shell at the start of the story, she took interest on Mii-chan and started taking care of her when everyone else were bullying her, or just standing by.

Yamada was too kind of her own good. She had never been good at forming and sustaining relationship because of her weak will, but I believe her kindness also played a part. I'm not talking about fake "kindness" where you smiled while stabbing people's back when they weren't looking. She was sensitive but also unfortunately genuinely cared about other people's feelings and thoughts. Realizing how vile a human being can be spiralled her deeper into disillusionment. To be a good person is several order magnitude harder than just being a trashy person. She kept on reflecting, thinking, but because of that she couldn't get anything done because her mental strength couldn't handle it. She was similar to Mii-chan in that regard, just different root cause

If we are strictly talking about the end result, the mom was probably on point. Yamada needed someone to point her the way, otherwise she just tripped and not getting back up. Ironically, this was what I once thought. Following instructions absolved you of sense of intellectual accountability. When you were in a deep depression, following clear direction outlined by someone else actually made you breathe easier. At least, that was what happened to me, and I still wished to go back in time where all I needed to do was to follow a strict everyday routine of school and courses.

The author is a troll, and it might be because the author had a deep contempt towards people with intellectual disability, but I had never seen a depiction of how hard it actually is to take care of someone with disability, especially intellectual kind, that went as real and raw as this manga.

No, Japan has an awful approach towards mental health, neurodivergencies included. That's why their suicide rate is awful: instead of fixing the cause, they turn it into a "public nuisance" matter. And they absolutely do not believe on meds for example, during the Olympics some of the athletes mentioned not being able to get their ADHD meds into the country cause they're banned.
