@Chizan I don't want to think about it too, but for me it seems that Mashiro got herself in this very same situation with Benio like it was with Kobeni and Hakua. Means, she will lose her life energy if she is too far away from the person she saved and shared her lifeforce with. Benio already mentioned this really strange fact in this chapter (really, how she is still alive after falling into the mountain river with a WATERFALL?) and it seems that Mashiro either just don't want to talk about it or don't remember anything about it. Either way, it's way too many hints and flags raised here and there already.
