I'm glad that the author makes it fairly obvious from the getgo that she's being cold and aloof for his safety rather than just trying with his feelings.

I look forward to her reasons (other than her mentioning monsters) and her reasons for dodging the question about there being anyone who cares for her (her traumatic reaction seems to indicate no). and their relationship growing.
