Jesus Christ, this MC is cursed with being loved by red flags.
Anyway I don't approve how he thought it wa snormal to let his sister bite him bloody and his family lettin git pass, it broke both, and when MC stops being a kid that heals from eeything they will hurt.

There's a world out there where we got a much darker version of this story. One where, after the MC actually gets hit by that bundle of stakes, or actually falls into the fucking punji sticks, the class pres has to come to terms with her role in the death of her crush while in prison for murder.
