They probably are the empty vessels of the previous loop characters after their memories got erased.

Seems that the game may actually be making clones of them when it resets instead of rewinding time.
If that's the case, I really hope they are empty :worry:

About character encoding:
Computers store information with series of bits, that is, zeros and ones. (1001001110100...) (tangent: they are usually called zero and one, but they can also be thought of as off/on, false/true, etc., anything with two states really.)

"how to represent strings of characters (that is, plain text) with a series of zeros and ones" is a question with no single correct answer. A character encoding is something that gives one answer.

Using one encoding to encode (convert to zeroes and ones) and another different encoding to decode (convert from zeroes and ones) will produce gibberish:

Let's say that encoding A says "000 = a, 001 = b, 010 = c" , but encoding B says "000 = x, 001 = y, 010 = z" (normally theres more than 3 bits, this is just an example). If you encode "abc" with A you get 000001010, but if you decode that with B you get "xyz".
The process is reversible: if you encode "xyz" using B, you get the same ones and zeroes as above, which you then decode with A to get "abc".

This is basically how the gibberish in the previous chapter was made and then deciphered.
Ah I see, so from my understanding they used a different encoder from the gibberish encoder to interpret the same string of bits differently, and thus got a different (yet more intelligible) message.
Thanks for the explanation!

Why are people surprised about how things would get reset? Wasn't that established in the first few chapters? It definitely wasn't new info to me.

Human can’t understand things they don’t know.If our world is like a gal game ,we can’t realize it either and will try to create “physics” to explain it.

I hope that the fight against the game world becomes more and more literal. Some games have a literal dev room where every item possible exists, major world events could be activated and characters modified. It'd be oddly poetic watching someone clip through an otherwise ordinary reality in search of a such a room.

No, I meant the commenters here acting like it's new information.
Yeah it is nothing new is was already speeled out right but many people read a lot of stuff to kill time so forgetting is part of the course

I myself probably forget a lot of thing :02:

Guys you don’t understand

We know they’re probably being watched and the game is probably being worked on in real-time (see Locker Bug-fix, sub-heroines, loli teacher), not to mention their dialogue which confirms the existence of ‘developers’.

But that begs the question, why haven’t the developers added any hint of Misaki’s route?

My answer? They can’t.

“The premise of this game is to date girls, after all.”

Notice how ALL the datable characters are FEMALE but Hareta has little interest in dating a FEMALE Misaki.

I think this is implying that the developers for some reason can only add female targets, but yet if they DO add a female Misaki a part of their audience is going to protest, so they don’t even bother.

This could be in reference to views on LGBT content, and how backwards parts of society are in that regard.

You can have characters crossdress as a joke, you can have romantic tension between same sex, you can even tease a relationship - but you usually can’t make it official because it’s ‘immoral’ or ‘unnatural’.

What I’m saying is, we might need to wait for this ‘fictional version’ of the country the devs are in to change their views regarding same-sex relationships, and/or pass same-sex marriage legally before our boys can even dream of a true ‘happy end’.

But there has to be a narrative reason why we’re following this ‘run’ of the game…

Maybe, the only way they can win is if they successfully influence the outside world within this run, whether that be their game’s code or by some other way.

Also, this makes me think we might get a nightmare scenario where Misaki is datable, but it’s not Hareta’s Misaki. It’s Girl!Misaki.

ALSO^2: MAN LEARNING ABOUT THE BUGGED DIALOGUE FUCKED ME UP. DOES THAT MEAN HE’S ALWAYS BEEN CONFESSING HIS LOVE BEFORE CHAPTER 1 BUT MISAKI CAN’T HEAR IT?!? (See “It’s like he’s saying “Look at me!””)

EDIT: Wait what if the Pre-serialization was a previous run?!? Man, the implications are fucked up…
