Guys you don’t understand
We know they’re probably being watched and the game is probably being worked on in real-time (see Locker Bug-fix, sub-heroines, loli teacher), not to mention their dialogue which confirms the existence of ‘developers’.
But that begs the question, why haven’t the developers added any hint of Misaki’s route?
My answer?
They can’t.
“The premise of this game is to date girls, after all.”
Notice how ALL the datable characters are FEMALE but Hareta has little interest in dating a FEMALE Misaki.
I think this is implying that the developers for some reason can only add female targets, but yet if they DO add a female Misaki a part of their audience is going to protest, so they don’t even bother.
This could be in reference to views on LGBT content, and how backwards parts of society are in that regard.
You can have characters crossdress as a joke, you can have romantic tension between same sex, you can even tease a relationship - but you usually can’t make it official because it’s ‘immoral’ or ‘unnatural’.
What I’m saying is, we might need to wait for this ‘fictional version’ of the country the devs are in to change their views regarding same-sex relationships, and/or pass same-sex marriage legally before our boys can even dream of a true ‘happy end’.
But there has to be a narrative reason why we’re following this ‘run’ of the game…
Maybe, the only way they can win is if they successfully influence the outside world within this run, whether that be their game’s code or by some other way.
Also, this makes me think we might get a nightmare scenario where Misaki is datable, but it’s not Hareta’s Misaki. It’s Girl!Misaki.
ALSO^2: MAN LEARNING ABOUT THE BUGGED DIALOGUE FUCKED ME UP. DOES THAT MEAN HE’S ALWAYS BEEN CONFESSING HIS LOVE BEFORE CHAPTER 1 BUT MISAKI CAN’T HEAR IT?!? (See “It’s like he’s saying “Look at me!””)
EDIT: Wait what if the
Pre-serialization was a previous run?!? Man, the implications are fucked up…
