I hate how people in seinen romcoms are in their mid 20s acting like teenagers and blushing over slighty touching their crush's hand by chance; despite both of them already having sexual experience.
That last bit doesn't apply to Misato here but still is infuriating seeing so little progress.
I feel like that's more so a reflection of the culture. Like not everyone grows up just going on dates or having romance and then one day it hits you with one person and then, in Misato's case, you kinda gotta fight for that person cause of where they are coming from. Konishikawa has already known romance and dates love and marriage and it jaded him. I feel like it's refreshing to see a romance that isn't like every other progression and is prob pretty accurate to how it might be.

All your co-workers think you're all experienced cause you don't overshare, not that she has anything to share anyway, but it shapes their perception. You finally like a guy, who is older and you're honestly doing A LOT to communicate it without risking your heart fully cause shit is scary. I confessed to my now wife and we started dating from friends but I was sweating buckets the whole time. Imagine being the woman doing this, also you know he doesn't see you like that cause he has written himself off, due to his trauma.

I love them cause it's so frustrating but also so real but still endearing and funny and I'm cheering for her so hard. She really really wanted to get through to him, the situation presented itself and it was a lot but she gathered ger courage and said something to a "sleeping????" Konishikawa. That took guts. I'm happy with the progress but I understand if you're comparing it to everything else why there might be disappointment

I remember somewhere in the mangadex forums someone asking if shounen romances where being seinen-ified, and I retorted that, from my perspective, seinen romances were being shounen-ified.
This manga is probably the best example for my argument. 33 chapters in, the protagonists completely alone in their apartment, after a bath, and absolutely nothing happens. Even shounen romcoms are more daring than this - they might at least have a lucky sukebe moment, some lewd hand-holding or arbitrary fan-service. Meanwhile, FMC keeps being more passive than a Escape from Tarkov extraction point camper. FMC needs to hand over her adult badge. Her romantic skills are still kindergarten level.
This is why for romance I usually read Josei instead of Seinen. All you have to do when reading Josei is check the cover: if the male is sexually harassing the woman then skip because it's more of the same; bad boy literally rapes the girl but he's hot so it's ok and turns out that somehow he's also rich. As long as you dodge those (which are common fetishes for women), Josei is the way to go for romance.

The difference here is usually in shounen romance the MC/FMC are on equal terms.

In this manga, there's the employee/employer power dynamics at play.

It's not that simple.

although this is a very good strategy, you have to admit that's some heavy cherry picking :worry:

I can't stand the way male characters are written in josei. The cool silent perfect type are just annoying as hell.

Ah well. At least Misato still has a nice body. As usual, I utterly adore her breasts and butt.

Thank you for the translation (it's quite strange. 33 chapters isn't that long in the grand scheme of things, but this manga makes it feel a lot longer than it actually is. Mainly due to the lack of meaningful progress as noted by practically everyone reading. This is ALMOST as bad as Tokimori-san).

Not really, the cover filters the search rather quick and you'll find the best romances you'll ever find in manga and manwhas as well.

Almost no Josei I read have males like that.

If you want an example of a decent Josei: Kill The Villainess . If Mangadex doesn't have the chapters, look it up elsewhere. This one specifically destroys many tropes and even mock them, expect depression almost all the way with a really satisfying ending.

normal old man reporting in: normal people have a problem with big age gaps. she is being the weird one with her infatuation. i think a lot of manga/anime primes your brain to think a little less of these problems but this is a real-world issue and typically women are not like this at all.

I'll be honest, I just don't see this romance working out at all. At best, Konishikawa lives his life a little more happily or something but I don't see any ending where they end up together.

Well, I expected nothing so I’m not disappointed I guess.
She did nothing except confessing to him while he was sleeping, and I guess he was not faking it so he really didn’t heard her, so he won’t become aware of her now either. The entire situation is on her, he has been clear about his feelings, she has to do the work to get closer to him.
Well maybe her saying aloud her feelings to him for the first time maybe unleashed something in her and now she’ll be more daring, who knows
And I know I said all of that but this story is still way better than rent a chorizo :pepehmm:
Thanks for the translation
I'd rather read 70 more chapters of this going nowhere than ever touch RAG again.

Nearly a hundred million yen for 72m². Will it really grow in value? I used to think real estate in Japanese cities was expensive, considering those amazingly small apartments exists in Japan. However, folks told me that apartments/houses aren't that expensive even in the big cities. I do know Japan has a huge amount of vacant housing, partially due to the shrinking population, partially for some other reasons. Half a million euros for 72m² isn't exactly cheap, even if it's extremely far from London or New York prices. It's significantly more expensive than in the capital of my home country, though. Regardless of the price, within reason, the point I'm wondering about is if the value is really going to grow, like it would in many important cities in the world. If it was a cheap apartment, I suppose it wouldn't matter, but that 94M yen is good sum of money, which means it's harder for it to become more expensive.

It was also funny the apartment info mentioned a dishwasher included. Anyone buying such an expensive apartment would have one (if they wanted one) and it wouldn't mean pretty much anything in the total price of the place. A parking spot would be more relevant, I think. That can't even always be bought with money if you are unlucky.
