Nobody in real life would start chopping vegetables with force better suited for chopping firewood. It's obvious Satou should have seen cooking being done by others, even if she has little experience herself, so even if she utterly lacked common sense (despite being considered mature by her classmates), she could still emulate what she has seen others to do. I guess this was just the author's attempt at comedy.
