Since this has two chapters left... I was wondering is this a good read
I have dropped this series a long time ago
just skimmed over the latest chapter, my biggest gripe with it still standing: there is no romance
no relationship =! no romance
it's a cute slice of life, but the premise was that Zane liked her and she wanted to just play mom, so he was tasked with changing her mind while still maintaining their friendship/ mom-friendship/ whatever
no delivery
5/10 manga to me; it's cute, but there's nothing here

I think this was the chapter that someone translated years ago.
That being said, yeah I'm disappointed that the author never went further with the main MC's romance, it's a good manga but never delivering despite running for so long is so disappointing.

It's a very cute domestic slice of life romance for sure. Some say there's no progress as they don't become official but I personally disagree. Even if they aren't officially a couple, their relationship is already very obvious more than friends and they share so many close moments with each other's as if they were in a actually relationship. Plus there is also the plot of Zen dealing with his pasted mother which hits close to some readers.

I personally say it's a good read. Though you have to keep in mind it's genre, which is a wholesome SOL middle school romance, so don't expect stuff like drama, love triangles, or anything extreme.

Oh that was so lovely <3 Esp since sea bream is a lucky fish... what a cute idea!

And getting reminded even adults get plenty embarrassed is nice too. No need to rush to try n' be mature. You have your whole lives.

And in the same spirit I don't really need this manga to end with them officially dating or something. A gentle progress in their relationship and lives is plenty.

I’ve enjoyed it for sure, but really depends on your expectations I think.

It’s about 10% romance, if that. Is pretty one-sided apart from a little hint of something there in the most recent chapters. I’d say it’s more just a friendship, which is really nice in its own way.

The other 90% is
M I S O S O U P

But I think it is still cute for what it is.

If you want a reference, "March Comes in Like a Lion" went 153 chapters before they became a couple over the next 2 chapters. Still waiting for him to give her a ring and propose formally. You could see it happen slowly, organically. I like this, but I do wish they had gotten together. I am hoping Zen can just tell her and she accepts his feelings so the last chapter has a time skip and they are getting married. That would look cute. She might be a home ec and nutritionist for a school, Zen will be a trader. Zen's dad will work in France, while Zen handles the home front and they live in the house that his mom, and Yae filled with love and now I am crying. Always head canon.

Wait, is kissing on the forehead or cheek an option for the groom on their wedding day? (for the real life, I mean)

Thanks for the chapter! :D

I think it's a great story. Personally I tend to skip most of the detailed miso soup recipes, since I'm not too interested in them, but I've grown very fond of the characters and their interactions. I found them surprisingly deep. Obviously Zen and Yae, but I much enjoy the relation between Zen and his father as well, and the change/growth therein. I found Zen and Yae's visit to Zen's aunt very moving. Perhaps the story will not contain everything you're expecting (as seems to be the case with a number of commenters). Nonetheless, I'd say it contains plenty, and I'd highly recommend giving it a try :)

depends on the culture, i guess. this is still a marriage between two japanese people even though the wedding looks like a western-style wedding. if the usual flower bouquet toss also being replaced with teddy bear toss using some toy gun and parachute, a kiss in the forehead should be no problem. i think even in real life, the bride and the groom can do whatever they want for their wedding, outsiders opinion be damned.

It's comforting and comfortable and sweet. Romantic progress is very slow . . . really, VERY slow . . . but it is there. If you're willing to read a comfy slice of life that spends a LOT of time geeking out about miso soup, with romance as an occasional bit of spice, you'll like it. If you want to read something primarily a romance, that isn't this. Some chapters can be a bit bland.

But I will say that in a field full of manga where I forget the characters because they seem interchangeable, I remember this one easily--I know exactly who these two are. Something about their character designs, the way their personalities go together, and the ubiquitous miso soup make this stand out. And you know, I'm always reading romance manga where everyone, myself included, are going "Argh, what a stupid stereotyped plot development, why this drama for the sake of drama"--well, there is exactly none of that here. Even if these two aren't actually going out, EVERYONE knows they're gonna get married one day. There is no hint ever of a third wheel, or any possibility they could have a noticeable rift between them, just these two really good kids who were made for each other.

There is no law about it, if they wanted they could have just shaken hand and exchanged business cards.
That said, if you are not even going to kiss your wife on your marriage day, are you actually ready to face the REAL challenges?
