you should've make a copy of the spread page and make it the actual title drop with "misoshiru de kanpai"
like the old translation

WE NEED A NEW TAG OTHER THAN “ROMANCE”!
yaknow.... to me, you're actually contradicting yourself,
people here really like to add new tags, to just everything
nothing wrong, really..
but I think adding new tags would just complicate things and make it even more difficult

Everyone wants romance in a romance right
that's why for tags, I trust and refer more to myanimelist,
because they only keep the essentials,
and this was never tagged as romance there

this has romance elements, but it was never the point,
it was a feature

I disagree with the person you're replying to and this last statement. This is a romance story. If these two were going out from the start and nothing else changed, the first commenter wouldn't have have even typed what they did. The romance is set up from chapter 1. This entire story is about these two relationship which ends on a marriage proposal. And even if that wasn't there and they just decided to stay friends, it would still be categorized as a romance, because Zen likes Yae the whole time. This isn't a story about Miso Soup that has romantic elements. This is a romantic story themed around Miso Soup.

I think what most people want are stories with couples; in which I say, read a story where they're already going out at the start.

I've been following this series for so many years, the chapters used to come out every 4-5 months. I never expected this to ever get fully translated. But here we are, time keeps moving. Thank you.
I'm not very satisfied with the lackluster romance, but it's fine, at least we get a marriage proposal.

It's a pretty well crafted ending. Yes, we would have liked to see their future life a bit more, but it fits as a natural end as the precocious kids move into the cusp of adulthood. Yae looks a lot more mature in particular

Excellent color splash page and final panels as well :glee:

This isn’t Romance, it’s more like ‘blooming feelings’ or ‘light-romance’, I don’t know if a term already exists but it’s so frustrating spending years waiting for the romance, every hint comments go “LETS GOOO” or “ITS TIME!”. Everyone wants romance in a romance right? But right before it begins, it ends almost… every single time.

I don’t get it, I don’t fucking get it. I feel so let down once again, once again left going “really? It’s ending now?”
It needs a miso soup tag

I'll just dump my thoughts for the series here if anyone wants to read it:

Personally it did feel a bit rushed to me, but I can definitely see how Yae would suddenly say that out of the blue. She's been wanting to be Zen's mother her entire life because of the loss of his mother, and she at the time thought it was the role that Zen would have wanted the most, and she probably didn't understand why Zen wanted to get married with her because they were still toddlers. As they went into their adolescent years, she definitely became more conscious of their relationship and it makes sense why she would try to hide her embarrassment with the excuse of being his mother. But after Zen read the letter from his mom and got closure, Yae probably thinks that her role as a mother isn't as necessary as before and since she still remembers what Zen asked her when they were kids, she probably thought now was the best time to confess

The climax of the story was definitely Zen getting closure by reading her letter, and I think the author probably just didn't want to drag out the denouement for too long, so they just tied everything up in one neat volume

I kinda wished the author could've written about their high school lives, but that would warrant a whole sequel that I'm sure the author didn't even know where to take, and I don't blame them for that

Thanks for bringing this manga across the finish line.
I remember reading the final chapter some years back with the massive gap between it and where the last group left it. This is one of my favourite mangas by FAR and has become one of my comfort mangas, it’s cute, emotional, & wholesome in all the right aspects.

Thanks so much for picking this series up and finishing it out. I've kept up with it since close to the beginning and for a long while I never thought I'd see the end– its return has truly been a blessing!
It feels so strange to say goodbye to Zen and Yae after all these years... I think I was very much still an immature youth when I started the series (still am to a degree, I guess) but over time I now feel more like an adult fondly watching over them. I started learning to cook for myself back when I started reading this and now I'm somebody who cooks nearly every meal every day for herself... We went on that journey together! And now it's time to let go!? Say it ain't so 😭
Wishing them the best! And you, too, dear scanlators!

Sure. Everyone can have opinion

This isn't a story about Miso Soup that has romantic elements. This is a romantic story themed around Miso Soup.
My take is that this is not a romantic story themed around miso soup,
instead it is a story build focused about the miso soup first and foremost, with romantic romantic story to deliver the story.

Proof for that, 70% of the story involved in conveying information about the miso soup, history, how to make it, etc.
So the main intention from the author is all about the miso soup, it's just how to make it still interesting and digestible.

So I stand with my statement that I don't consider this as a romance story. (as in I didn't go to this manga for the romance)
I still really loved this. Really enjoyed the romance presented.
But if someone asks me to recommend a romance story, small chance I'd mention this, I have other to list.
But if someone asks a slice-of-life story with a good romance included, I've mentioned this manga multiple times in many threads

My personal take on the story; I liked it. Yeah the ending was a bit rushed and wished the author went on longer but this is still in my opinion satisfactory. To be honest I don't care about them not being official, their cute close interactions was better than most normal romances. Despite not being official, their special bond is what made this story great
