My take is that this is not a romantic story themed around miso soup,
instead it is a story build focused about the miso soup first and foremost, with romantic romantic story to deliver the story.
Proof for that, 70% of the story involved in conveying information about the miso soup, history, how to make it, etc.
So the main intention from the author is all about the miso soup, it's just how to make it still interesting and digestible.
So I stand with my statement that I don't consider this as a romance story. (as in I didn't go to this manga for the romance)
I still really loved this. Really enjoyed the romance presented.
But if someone asks me to recommend a romance story, small chance I'd mention this, I have other to list.
But if someone asks a slice-of-life story with a good romance included, I've mentioned this manga multiple times in many threads
