The beastmen have estrus periods, or periods when they are in heat. During these times they have both heightened aggression and lust and have trouble controlling their impulses. Xiao Jun has been subduing her estrus periods by taking inhibitor drugs that have been banned because they are so dangerous. It could also explain some of her strange behaviours between when she was young and now. Since Xiao Jun and Yu Wenxi have been on the run, Xiao Jun hasn’t been able to have those inhibitors and so Yu Wenxi had to isolate her for her estrus period and provide her with “relief”. The matriarch of the Fox Clan was obviously the one calling the previous night and has come in to assist.

Oh, and also, the last chapter (46.5) was a non-canon omake. Hence the tonal whiplash.
