Keep in mind that this was drawn in the 1980’s with no Internet to easily research stuff, so the author probably didn’t know about calzone or panzerotto. If he didn’t know, it means that he re-invented this popular food by himself, which I find quite amazing.

Calzone is baked, while this is a deep-fried pizza. While it may sounds delicious in theory, he will need to modify the dough to be more batter-like, more airy and more thin. Typical pizza dough will turn up too dense and greasy when fried.

Bro, if baking the pizza just long enough to melt the cheese somehow causes the tomato sauce to dry out, then your cheese sucks or your oven is broken.

Like does proper pizza not exist in Japan back in the 80s or 90s?
