imagine if there's a plot twist where he's someone else (tho if she's that sure I would assume she knows his name [or some 4d psych horror plot twist where someone killed and stole his identity -- i think there was a yuri one shot like that too lol])

I know the series involving the skin stealing monster, but I don't think I've heard about that one shot.

Do tell.

Also, memories can be truly fickle beasts, you can remember many details with high accuracy from when you're five but also draw a complete blank on what you ate for dinner two weeks ago.

Or this go full psychological and it turns out that the reason he doesn't remember her is because at the time they parted he suffered a major trauma that cause surrounding unrelated memories to be buried alongside, like it happens in real life :pepehmm:

I don't remember the title, but the chara who stole the identity had a classmate who had an 'older childhood friend' and just ended up killing her before 'reuniting' with the other woman and ending up being a couple or so

That's basically what happened in
"One Week Friends" (animanga) and "To The Moon" (game)
, though i would expect the parents to still remember/albums and such, but i guess if this flash back was meant to be pre smartphone era, it's prolly easier these days when a younger generation moves away but she should've also kept tabs on him and try to be in contact sooner

"I worked hard to find out where he was without any contact info and went to see him."
I mean, it's pretty reasonable to think this was an act of stalking. Maybe it would've been better for her to play it off as a "coincidence" rather than her outright searching for him for many years.

It would be interesting if everyone suddenly knew, like all his other classmates and even his parents and maybe cousin recognizing her , but he still has no clue but surprised she wouldn't say more details but i suppose as an elementary schooler , one wouldn't have many secrets versus like "You have a mole on X spot"

Tho on the flip side even if ppl are like "oh i did go to elementary school with this person" depending on how life went for you and how much you both changed, any kinda 'reunion' if you agreed to have lunch together could vary from "Slightly awkward" to depressing "I kinda became a NEET/gave up and didn't accomplish anything after graduating" or so.

I wonder if there would be some alternate story/plot to where "She sees him again and becomes totally disillusioned with his current personality" (while childhood friends is a romcom cliche i can imagine irl you running into someone and being like "ugh why did i like him again/i'm surprised we were ever friends")

or "he's a piece of shit but she still goes full yandere and kidnaps him and basically torture/mind breaks him til she can mold him to be her 'ideal' partner"

10 years? I thought we were talking very young childhood friends. So he either has a memory of a golddish, had some mental trauma, or is a long lost twin.

That's basically what happened in

Funnily enough this is also the plotline of Atelier Totori. She wants to go out to "find her mother", even though everyone in the village knows her ship was lost in a Kraken attack. Totori cried for weeka and ended mentally blocking out the event in her mind for quite a while in the game.

Or he can't remember her because in her mind they were close friends who teased him a bit and in his mind she was his bully who he's pushed out of his head.

These differing memories would be sort of like Takafumi's and Sumika's differing memories of their elementary school days in Isekai Ojisan.

LOL he was pretty calm otherwise, other wise he would've said something or tried to run away or so maybe, or like that "setting things with brats" series where he he just harshly verbally jabs at her to the point of a verbal breakdown

Of course he wouldn't remember after 10 fucking years! Especially if you disappeared out his life like that lmao
LOL i don't remember the names of my fave teachers growing up and i saw them everyday/more often than my own parents who were always at work (well, i remember one teachers name b/c his name was actually technically a slur but an extra letter/diff spelling, good thing he wasn't teaching high school but if he didn't change his name i can imagine him retiring early or so)
