The bubbly het romance was literally the thing I cared least in the story and this extra made me even more pissed, like what the hell. You're telling me we had potential for THIS?

Anyway comment section back so I had to come here to thank the scanlation team. Thank you for all your hard work and funny comments. I'm excited for the Netflix adaptation, since as much as I enjoyed the mystery, the art was quite subpar unfortunately. Seeing real actors doing this hopefully will improve the experience of revisiting it.

I don't think adding a yuri romance between Anzu and Clair would have improved the story in any way. And this is coming from a die-hard yuri fan.

Actually, I think Anzu's feelings for Kichi are actually pretty important for the story since it's something she has to deal with when he (falsely) confesses to the arson.

I also don't think that this chapter is implying Claire had romantic feelings for Anzu either. I think Claire's just mad that she's losing a lifelong companion and is jokingly taking it out on the wishy-washy guy who's taking her away. Remember, this chapter takes place before the epilogue in the previous chapter where it's revealed she and Anzu start a lolita clothing line so she's probably thinking she and Anzu will start to drift apart.

Great manga but I gotta agree with one of the comments, the Anzu x Kiichi romance just doesn't do it for me. Great he wasn't the culprit, but he still knew who it was the whole time he was helping her. I get it, that's his brother but it feels really weird for her to not even be angry with him over that. Maybe if there'd been more of a timeskip I could stomach it more.
The fact that he's so passive in their relationship compared to her makes it even more unsatisfying. Like, idk, it just feels like she does so much more in pushing the relationship forward, both before and after the romance.
He's also just...doesn't really even have any redeeming qualities either?
Nah really can't say I'm a fan of their romance, can't say that at all.
Looking forward to the Netflix adaptation though. Maybe the actors will have so much chemistry that it'll overpower my criticisms.

Man, after having binged this manga in a day and having slept on it, I cannot get rid of the point in the manga where Kiichi tried to r*pe Anzu and was only stopped because his little brother walked in. It was so traumatic for Anzu that she couldn't look at him and called out sick for the job that was her whole reason for being... And that just incident doesn't get brought up again or addressed. The best thing Kiichi did was try to avoid Anzu because he knew she deserved someone who wouldn't resort to attempting SA when frustrated. Why Anzu keeps pursuing him is bizarre outside of her self-sacrificing complex needing her to choose someone else now that Yuzu doesn't need to be "protected".

I read till the end and still dont see a reason why anzu proposed to kiichi. Like girl been having everyone's burdens on her back since a kid, now that it all solved she consciously take a new one? She's the epitome of eldest daughter. And guess who lets this eldest daughter image prevail till now? patriarchy ofcourse!

wow just finished reading this and, i am glad yuzu and shin didn't end up together. the same would've been better for kiichi and anzu, even if they did have romantic feelings for each other it would've been better if they didn't end up together, for the time being atleast.
