Well, I really wish another group would pick this series up! It's a shame to have such a wonderful story be mishandled by a bunch of big-headed jackasses.

@evergreenoaktree The group isn't working on any series currently, afaik, but a decision to not release on MangaDex (or any one specific site) given philosophical differences and previous ill-treatment/hostility is completely valid. This site isn't an aggregator and does not – and should not – contain all scanlated releases of everything in the universe. I can deal with going to another site to download something.

No matter your views on the group's behavior or philosophy, though, they didn't mishandle this series, and they didn't stop working on it for any other reason than it got to be too much work – and that was a decision made well before they pulled their stuff off MD. FWIW, I'd honestly be surprised and pretty impressed if anyone else could do as consistently good a job. Their Colors releases (like all of their stuff, honestly) were always extremely high-quality in terms of translation (an incredibly difficult task given the amount of wordplay and puns here, which contributed to the very slow release speed when they were working on it a year-ish ago now), plus annoyingly-clean and careful typesetting and lettering, etc.

I have no time to work on manga anymore at all, regardless of it being commercial work or scanlation.

It's unfortunate but I doubt I'll continue this, and no plans to at the moment - it was a massive amount of work that I mostly did myself as finding skilled scanlators is very difficult - plus as eli mentioned, providing a good english translation for this series is not easy and I absolutely hate the poor quality translations and endless translation notes that most readers have to deal with in scanlation, even if the majority is happy to read them.

My feelings with mangadex are irrelevant to any work on the series itself. You should be able to find it elsewhere, although I admit it may not always be the most recent revisions.
At some point I will fall victim to the rule I disagree with and people will be able to upload the work here.

My biggest complaints with 2.4 are that OOP licenced works and works that the authors agreed with groups to stop distribution of are uploaded here - I strongly feel these should be respected even if the work no longer in print or the scanlation group pauses activity. If caring about that makes me a big-headed jackass then I'll accept it, I don't care for my own reputation outside of providing good quality releases - even then I kept much of it uncredited.

@gouder Do you mean 7…? 6 looks pretty fine to me and matches 5 quite well stylistically, IMO.

I don't know, hard to explain. The composition just feels different and stiffer, the characters feel a lot more flat and the line are much thinner. The faces also seem a bit lopsided.
It really doesn't feel like Katsuwo's drawing, tbh

Nisor here. I've finally caught up on the latest volume. The last chapter for volume 8 will be released in June. I plan to work on volume 8 whenever that comes out. I hope you were able to enjoy this series as much as I have. For now, I think I'll work on something that involves a particular bear and shrine maiden.
