Seriously, if the day didn't loop, he'd just have ignored his childhood friend . "Only one choice" my butt.
And while I get the "ordinary is fine" message...No, I absolutely did NOT choose an office job over becoming a football star because I wanted to and neither do most people I suspect. I did so because the other options were denied to me and I was forced to choose the least awful option from the ones available so I could make a living. I think if the guy thinks he'd still be an office worker if he had outstanding sports talents, or if he had a ton of money, or if he had other opportunities, he's lying to himself.
But perhaps this story is still inspiring that way. You don't want to end up like that guy, convincing himself that he doesn't even want anything more out of life anymore.
